Our very own Chapter member Kathy Breithaupt also serves as Chair- man of the Georgia Council of Trout Unlimited. For tonight’s program Kathy will give us an update on what’s happening with the GA Council.

In addition, Kathy and her husband Charlie recently attended the Annual National TU meeting in Portland, ME. Together they will give us an up- date on that meeting and what’s new on the national side of Trout Unlim- ited.

Come hear their presentation and learn how you can help in the conser- vation of clean, cold water and healthy trout.

Nov 7-13: Rabun Chapter Fall Campout

August 31, 2022

The Rabun Chapter will hold its annual Fall Chapter Campout on Nov 7 -13, 2022 at Oconee State Park, just across the SC line from Rabun County. It’s sure to be a great time for fish- ing and fellowship.

The Georgia Delayed Harvest trout season begins Nov 1 and the Chattooga River should be well-stocked by the time of our campout. Yee Haa!!!

Campsite #93 in the “Wooded Loop” will be the official gathering site. Bring your own chair to sit around the fire! Campsites fill up fast this time of year, so don’t delay in making your campsite reservations.

We will cook and eat breakfast and supper together every day and you are on your own for your noon meal. If you volunteer to cook a meal, then all meals are free for you. If you don’t cook a meal, then you pay $5 for each meal you eat to the cook. Now that’s a deal! Let Ter- ry Rivers know of the meal you wish to cook, and what meals you plan to eat so the cooks can plan the meals. And hey! – if you don’t want to camp, just come by for a meal or sit by the fire! Wednesday supper is “Bring Your Own Steak” night!

If you have questions or plan to eat a meal, contact your camp host by email Terry Rivers or at 706-782-7419.

Prez Tammy Wins Mack Martin Rod Sweepstakes

Chapter Prez Tammy Hopton held the winning ticket at the Chapter’s annual July 11 family picnic that she won the raffle for Mack Martin’s custom-built Winston 3-weight fly rod! The rod raffle brought in more than $1,800 to support our programs. That’s a new record. We can’t thank Mack enough for his generosity in crafting and donating such a beautiful trout tickler to our Chapter.
