Rabun TU Connections Featured in TU National Blog

August 18, 2016

TU National staffer Beverly Smith recently wrote a personal essay, titled “It is Community, Not Coincidence,” about her favorite hidden gem “out west of Hiawassee” and the looping, linking connections in and around the Rabun chapter that led her there. She mentions by name Rabunites Charlie Breithaupt, Jim Kidd, Kyle Burrell, and Doug Adams: “This pattern of events is responsible for so much in my life. It is how I ended up living in Jackson for the last 11 years. It’s how I met my husband. How I established my lifelong passion for angling. And, how I ended up with the best job on the planet – working for Trout Unlimited.”

The revised Strategic Plan will be presented to the Chapter membership at this month’s meeting.

Tallulah River Handicap Fishing Pier is complete!

August 2, 2016

The Tallulah Falls Handicap Pier that has just been finished is a great example of a dream becoming a reality. Several Rabunites joined USFS personnel late September and early October to complete the pier. There will be an official dedication coming either in November or early spring. Mean while if you know someone who is handicapped and wants to fish…..then go get them and take them fishing!!

While many played a role in a vision coming to life none of it would have been possible without you!! Buying tickets, making donations and supporting our annual Rabun Rendezvous helps make the funds available for things like the pier. Never think that any contribution is to small. It all adds up! Please help us continue to achieve more great things in the future by marking your calendar to attend our 30th annual Rendezvous on Saturday, January 21, 2017.
