Spring Camping & Fishing Outing, Location Cherry Hill C.G. High water…real high water…was the significant feature of the Rabun Chapter Campout at Cherry Hill. Fishing, wading and catching were all difficult but some Rabunites did prevail. Some smaller streams were explored and success was found there. Compared to previous chapter campouts the crowd was sparse. The most ever there around the fire was ten and that was for just one night. Since only three of us were there for the last night and rain was eminent, we broke camp early and headed for the house.
The chapter leadership needs to assess the chapter campouts and decide if there is enough interest and support to plan events in the future. A campout is a great way to build camaraderie and help new members learn to fish local waters. In years past there have been about 20 Rabunites around the fire with something good to drink and tall tales abounding. You didn’t have to believe ‘em if you didn’t want to…I didn’t believe. Those were good times.
